NYC Outer Boroughs Tour Details

A private custom tour featuring any or all five of New York City’s boroughs can include driving, walking, or a mixture of both. Hop on the subway with your local expert or let us do the driving as we explore the history, heritage, cultural, and cuisine of New York’s eclectic boroughs outside of Manhattan.

The borough of Brooklyn is vast, as is the list of options we can take advantage of by car or on foot. A walk across the iconic Brooklyn Bridge will allow us to get some great group shots with the Manhattan skyline, and we can easily find our way down to DUMBO for shopping and more unique shots of both the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges.

Other notable places within the borough include peaceful Prospect Park and the nearby Brooklyn Museum, containing antiquities and art from all around the world. During the summer months, Coney Island is a popular destination, where you’ll want to grab a Coney dog and enjoy views of the bay.

Adjacent and equally compelling is the borough of Queens, home to a diverse community including Astoria’s Greek population as well as Little Egypt’s Arab population. Try out the best street food either of these areas have to offer, and then head to Astoria for more spectacular views of the city and its bridges. Rainy day or not, everyone will find something to relate to at the nearby Museum of the Moving Image, dedicated to preserving moving-image related artifacts and housing a permanent exhibit honoring the life and legacy of Jim Henson.

North of Manhattan island, we can explore The Bronx’s “living museum”, the New York Botanical Garden. Sports fans can talk about their favorite moments in sports history at Yankee Stadium, home of Major League Baseball’s New York Yankees. Nearby, we can make a pitstop at the small cottage once briefly home to prolific author of the macabre, Edgar Allan Poe.

To explore a bit of our last borough, we’ll hop aboard the ferry to Staten Island. Along the way, we’ll spot the emblematic Statue of Liberty, or, alternatively, arrange tickets for a ride to the statue and pedestal as well as to the former immigration processing station at Ellis Island.

Your guide can give you a brief introduction to the largely residential borough of Staten Island, or head back to the main island. From here, get the best tips on where to dine, drink, and recreate in the city that never sleeps.

Community Impact

On this private tour, our tour guides have the chance to show our travelers the everyday lives of local New Yorkers by visiting neighborhoods outside the usual tourist track.

Our guides speak about the early origins of the outer boroughs and how they have shaped the development of New York City.

By opting for a private tour of New York City, we’ll have more opportunities to showcase local restaurants and bars as well as art by local artists.

We strive to represent all voices in our storytelling, particularly those minorities who are often overlooked or underrepresented in the tourism industry, including but not limited to the indigenous and back histories found throughout New York’s five boroughs.
