Upper Manhattan Private Tour Details

A private tour of upper Manhattan can include a mix of walking and driving and be completely customized for your party. Otherwise, we’re happy to highlight our favorite places and people of the historically and culturally rich neighborhoods of Hamilton Heights and Washington Heights. Duration will depend on your interests and can be anywhere from 2-8 hours long.

Many will be familiar with one of these neighborhoods thanks to actor-composer Lin-Manuel Miranda and his hit namesake Broadway musicals. Fans of In The Heights and those looking to experience the Hispanic heritage of the area will enjoy exploring Little Dominican Republic, where we can appreciate the contributions of the Dominican immigrant population.

You’ll want to take some time to savor the street food, sights, and sounds in this small but lively neighborhood. When available, we can arrange admission or make a pass by the Alexander Hamilton Grange National Memorial, a restored home of the founding father also immortalized in Miranda’s award-winning musical.

We’ll have plenty to see in this and Washington Height’s ever-changing character before heading up to one of the most scenic escapes within city limits, Fort Tryon Park. While you stroll along beautifully landscaped paths overlooking the Hudson River and across from the sheer cliffs of the New Jersey Palisades, you’ll learn about the park’s Native American roots and removal and its surprising link to American Revolutionary War history.

Continue to uncover the park’s foundations of estates and war fortifications long gone, arrange admission to The Cloisters – a monastic museum featuring European medieval art and architecture – or head back into the city for more urban exploration based on your guides’ recommendations!
