Tour Guide

My Philly story
I landed in Philly days after graduating college and have never looked back. From my first job in publishing to a decades-long career in education to my current gig as a tour guide (it hardly seems like work) and over a dozen home addresses, I’ve enjoyed all that Philly has had to offer. I haunt great food and drink spots, appreciate all the historical sites, and marvel at the culture and public art. The best part of the city though has always been the people – my friends, family, neighbors and city visitors.
What’s one place in Philly you’ll defend like it’s your sibling?
The entire neighborhood of Germantown! In any other city, its history alone would blow people away. Add in the thriving arts community, public spaces, and incredible diversity, and it should be a ‘can’t miss’ experience for locals and visitors alike. I’d be happy to show you around.
What’s the most “Philly” moment you’ve ever experienced?
Not a single moment, but many. Despite not having grown up here, nor attending high school or college locally, the amount of people I know that I accidently ‘run into’ all the time is so reflective of Philly’s reputation as America’s biggest small town.
What’s your controversial Philly opinion
You don’t need to look for the ‘best’ cheesesteak, there are loads of great options. Most neighborhood pizza shops will satisfy even if they never make it to Instagram. It’s not splitting the atom, so don’t wait an hour for an order, just find a local place and enjoy! Oh, and monitor your cardiovascular health.
